Welcome to The Test ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application The Test (the "App").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account Information

  • Username
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Country
  • Profile photo (optional)

Game Data

  • Your answers to game questions
  • Match compatibility scores
  • Game history and statistics

Messages

  • In-app chat messages exchanged between you and other users
  • Message reactions

Device Information

  • Device token for push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
  • Device language preference

3. How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored securely using the following services:

  • Firebase Authentication — for account management and secure sign-in
  • Firebase Realtime Database — for storing your profile data, game data, messages, and match scores
  • Firebase Storage — for storing profile photos
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging — for delivering push notifications (your device token is stored to enable this)

All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Firebase services comply with industry-standard security practices.

4. AI-Generated Questions

The Test uses OpenAI's API to generate game questions. When generating questions:

  • No personal data is sent to OpenAI. We only send the game mode type, category, and language preference to generate contextually appropriate questions.
  • Generated questions are cached and reused to minimize API calls.
  • OpenAI does not use data sent via their API to train their models.

5. Push Notifications

We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send push notifications for:

  • New messages from other users
  • Game invitations and turn notifications
  • Match updates

Your device token is stored in our database to deliver these notifications. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.

6. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the App
  • Enable gameplay features (matching, scoring, chat)
  • Send push notifications about game activity
  • Suggest other users to play with based on your preferences
  • Generate relevant game questions
  • Improve and optimize the App experience

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Your data may be shared in the following limited cases:

  • With other users — your username, profile photo, age, and game data are visible to users you play with
  • Service providers — we use Firebase (Google) for infrastructure and OpenAI for question generation, as described above
  • Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights

8. In-App Purchases

The Test offers optional in-app purchases ("The Test Pro") through Apple's App Store. Payment information is handled entirely by Apple and is never accessed or stored by us.

9. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the App by going to Settings → Delete Account. When you delete your account:

  • Your profile data is permanently deleted
  • Your game history and messages are removed
  • Your profile photo is deleted from storage
  • This action is irreversible

10. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to access — request a copy of your data
  • Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Right to deletion — request deletion of your data (available in-app or by contacting us)
  • Right to portability — request your data in a portable format
  • Right to opt out — opt out of certain data processing

11. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed from our systems. We do not retain backup copies of deleted user data.

12. Children's Privacy

The Test is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
